March:

Come and see us on Sunday 13th March at Shaun Foggett’s Crocodiles of the World facility in Oxfordshire. We’ll be there from about 12pm.

Earlier that morning, we’ll be scaring entertaining  the children at the Natural History Museum’s Dino-snore sleepover in London!

We’ll also be at Eastwick Junior School, St Bede’s Primary School, Westbourne Junior Girls’ School, as well as many parties. Hope to see many of you at one of these events.

February:

Thanks to everyone at WWT London Wetlands centre yesterday. It was a very busy day, and I hope all who saw them enjoyed the shows. Your support was great, and thank you for some very nice comments. Thanks of course also to Jamie and the team at WWT London - hope to see you all again.

Tuesday 22nd Feb on BBC 2 at 9pm, check out Rom Whitaker’s One Million Snakebites - a great film about venomous snakes in India.

Croc Man on Discovery Channel in February. Shaun has set up a nice croc display in Oxford. Watch his show, give him some support! Here’s pic of Shaun and myself, and I’ll put up some more pics soon.

The beautiful weather here in the UK continues, so the crocs are delighted to be inside nice and warm. We will be doing a conservation special at London Wetlands Centre on the 20th of this month, so please pop along if you are in the area. Some school shows, vacation care centres, scouts and guides also this month.

Last week of January, Colin was filmed for a possible documentary series helping out a friend, Shaun, in Oxfordshire. Shaun is setting up a croc display near Oxford, and needed Colin’s help to move some crocs, and check them out.

We also helped a young girl called Olivia. Olivia, whilst only 6 years old, has written a poem on animal conservation, and has taken her passion to perform on Britain’s Got Talent. We provided Olivia with a boa constrictor to use for her talk - and SHE GOT THROUGH. When she gets to the final, we will need you all to vote for Olivia!

January: This month, we look forward to visiting many of you for parties, as well as an appearance at Pets At Home in Reading on the 9th January - so come along and see us there! We’ll be there from around 10:30am.

November/December: Many parties, as well as returning to the Natural History Museum in London for some shows this month. We also visited a few schools and made sure our lovely animals were nice and warm during the recent snow. We returned to Denmark, collecting some caimans from two zoos who no longer had room for these amazing animals. We wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

October: In October, we will be at Court Moor Community Playgroup, Kings School Holiday Club, Newnham School, as well as parties and some private events. We are also planning to get across and collect some adult caimans from our friends at Cologne Zoo and the Danish Crocodile Zoo.

Recent news from Australia about Malcolm Douglas dying in a car accident saddened us. Malcolm was the first real crocodile documentary maker, beginning in the early 1970s. A true-life bushman, Malcolm also helped pioneer the crocodile farming business in Australia - a business that is based around conservation by utilising farmed animals in order to protect the wild populations. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

September: This month has seen us so far at the Natural History Museum in London, nurseries, schools, David Lloyd centre at Milton Keynes, Banstead Countryside Day (for the 4th year), Anchor Trust Care Home at Leatherhead, Bookham Camera Club, plus the parties. Colin was also at the Crocodile Specialist Group meeting in Brazil, where he participated in a conference for crocodile conservation - and found time to check out some crocs in the wilds of the Amazon.

August: Quite a few shows this month, with vacation care centres taking centre stage. You can come along and see us at Slough Council’s Play Day on the 4th, over at Highland House in Essex on the 5th, Virgin Active on the 18th, and Staines Lions club event on the 30th. Otherwise, we have a few parties as well as those vacation care centres this month. Late August, I’ll post some info about Chinese alligators, and what we are doing to save them in the wild. Have a great month!

Man sits on crocodile: Recently, a man in Australia was seriously injured when he sat on the back of a 5m crocodile. Hardly surprising, and another reason not to drink alcohol before climbing into a croc enclosure. Crocodiles hold their drink much better than we do. Come and see us if you want to see crocodiles up close and in complete safety. You can’t sit on them, though...

July:This month, we will be visiting Teddington Fete on the 3rd, St Anne’s school in Banstead on the 4th, David Lloyd at Milton Keynes on the 10th, along with Kenley Common Community Fun Day, Boxhill Fete, Henrietta Playgroup, Salfords School, Chipstead Summer ShowChevening School, Footprints pre-school, and Chipstead Valley School play scheme - along with the many parties.

Little Alicia Sparkle has started to make her appearance at shows, so come along and see our very special Chinese alligator.

June: Coming up this month, we will be at Garson’s farm shops 2 & 3rd June, David Lloyd at Sidcup on the 4th. Shepperton Village Fair on the 12th, Lanesborough School, St Mary’s Summer Fayre, St Joseph’s School Fair, David Lloyd at Raynes Park, and Arundel Wetlands. Along with, of course, loads of birthday parties! Keeping us busy...

Also, later this month, Colin hopes to get across and collect a beautiful dwarf caiman from Cologne. Exciting!

May: A bit of fun this month, building a new enclosure for some new crocs we will be getting soon-ish. These will be dwarf caimans, and they are adult sized - so won’t be used for shows. Two of these are ones we had about 10 years ago, and they have been breeding regularly for the past few years in Denmark.

Public shows this month include David Lloyd centres, several schools and nurseries, and of course, the Cowpie Show in Surrey, which again saw a huge crowd for our shows in the arena. It is always a busy day for us, and the visitors all love to see the reptiles - particularly the boas and the crocs!

Special thanks this month to Jo at Earlswood school - we have been there for the past few years, and the shows are always enjoyable for us and the children!

April: We were back to the Natural History Museum on the 18th for the Dino Snores. Also, David Lloyd at Kidbrooke and a few vacation care centres and schools. Hope to see some of you at one of our upcoming school shows!

March: This month, we visited many schools, nurseries, as well as some of the David Lloyd centres. We are also settling in our latest crocs: some smooth-fronted caimans, and a Chinese alligator. Cute little things!

John Thorbjarnarson:

We are mourning the loss of Dr John Thorbjarnarson. Dr John T was the greatest croc expert the world has known, and died in February from malaria. It is still a shock to us all. Our prayers are with his family, and with the many close friends he has within the crocodile world. JT was our hero.

14 Feb:  Dino-snores was fun! We were at the Natural History Museum in London, to share the wonders of our reptiles with 200 children who had slept over at the Museum.

This is Alicia Sparkle. She’s our young Chinese alligator, and will be joining us for some shows later in the year - when she gets used to us. She is very strong and healthy, and absolutely beautiful!
